    If you're interviewing with Zapier, or are interested in working with us, then you should know that we will be assessing AI fluency as part of your process. But one thing I can guarantee is that we're not gonna hide the ball about what we're looking for. So let me share with you exactly what the levels of AI fluency are, and some helpful examples of what this might look like by department, what kind of questions you'll be asked, etc. IMO, this is likely helpful whether you're applying at Zapier, or any other AI-forward company! We map skills across 4 levels: Unacceptable, Capable, Adoptive, and Transformative. 1️⃣ Unacceptable: Resistant to AI tools and skeptical of their value. 2️⃣ Capable: Using the most popular tools. Likely under 3 months of hands-on experience 3️⃣ Adoptive: Embedding AI in personal workflows. Tuning prompts, chaining models, and automating tasks to boost efficiency. 4️⃣ Transformative: Uses AI not just as a tool, but to rethink strategy and deliver user-facing value that wasn’t possible two years ago These are evaluated through screenings, async exercises, and live interviews, and you can see some examples of how different responses might stack up in this graphic. And we're also sharing the kinds of questions the team is currently asking - what we're looking for will vary by role, level, and expectations for AI use within that position. But hopefully this helps you prepare! MARKETING - How is AI changing how you plan or execute campaigns? - How do you use AI to personalize messaging, generate content, or analyze performance? PEOPLE - Can you share an example of how you use AI in your daily work? - Can you share an example of a process or program you’ve built using AI? (Why AI, how does it work, tooling, outcomes, how you think about ROI?) PRODUCT - How is AI impacting SaaS? - Give an example of a time you used AI in a product feature. Did it improve with a better/faster/cheaper model? Our orientation towards this is that you're on an AI journey as are we. That means we're not looking at where you start, but where you finish so hopefully as you go through our interview process, your AI fluency will increase! It does a Google search on the person I’m about to email, then rewrites my message to make it personal based on what it finds. All automated. All inside my inbox. This takes <10 minutes to set up.     TLDR: Bring back imaginary friends. But imaginary friends who are really smart and can just automate any task you hate doing over and over. And it's actually a friend called the Zapier Zap Guesser. 😂 *** 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: I found one of the clearest walkthroughs I’ve seen for closing the ROI loop on Meta ads with Zapier. Huge shoutout to Automation Helpers (Dan Leeman and Alex Noles—y'all are MVPs). It then built the whole thing for me. Watch the video to see what I mean! The days of manually creating steps for a Zap are looooong gone. But then I decided to play around with it some more with our #ZapierCopilot. 😈 “Actually, I use Salesforce,” and Zapier updated that step in real time. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲: “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?” 🧐 And it gave me a ton of legit options!! Like a ton. I picked AI scoring. It added that into the Zap, too. THIS is Zapier + AI orchestration in action. And while this use case is for advertisers on Meta, honestly, you can build anything this way. The combo of structured automation + natural language + real-time experimentation is wildly powerful. Try it!     "AI is going to take your job anyway." - a friendly and supportive commenter on one of my posts last week. Well, if I'm being honest, I'd be happy for AI to take parts of my job - I have to do some boring things. Why wouldn't I want AI to take some of that on? HR and People work is one of the most natural places for companies to incorporate automation and AI given how much of our work involves repetitive processes. If you’ve ever found yourself: - scrambling to pull together hiring docs - chasing down offboarding tasks - rewriting the same onboarding emails - or wondering why someone suddenly quit... Zapier’s People team just shared a set of templates we actually use to automate all of that. And we’ve made them available for everyone: https://lnkd.in/g-a5mtyh These aren’t generic. They were built by HR folks for HR folks: 🧠 Hiring doc automation (saves 3–5 hours per role) 👋 Offboarding workflows (saves 3–5 hours per exit) 📝 AI-generated 1:1 briefs (15–30 mins saved per meeting) 👀 Attrition risk alerts (helps avoid costly surprises) Shout out to Emily Mabie, Cecilia Garza, Danielle Meinert, and Savannah Kusmik for contributing these use cases and templates! And the best part? You don’t need to implement a new system or abandon your current ones. These plug right into tools you’re probably already using like Slack, BambooHR, and ChatGPT. These workflows could easily save an employee 10-20+ hours a month. But does that mean AI will simply replace those employees? No - it means those we can now reallocate that time towards more important work that helps us and the business do better. Things like collaborating with partners, improving processes, coaching team members, and interviewing more candidates. I view all the "AI will take your job" comments as fear mongering - I'm not worried about it. But I am excited to offload more of my work to AI so I can spend more time doing the stuff I like that actually helps me grow at work! P.S.     Recently, we shared that 100% of new hires at Zapier are now expected to meet a baseline of AI Fluency, both for the company and the specific role they’re stepping into. No pressure, right? 😉 To ensure everyone who interviews with us is set up for success, we built a simple role-specific framework that looks at where folks are in their AI journey: capable, adaptive, and transformative. Here’s the part I’m excited to share: 👇These are some of the REAL questions we’re asking in interviews to assess how candidates are thinking about and using AI: MARKETING - How is AI changing how you plan or execute campaigns? - How do you use AI to personalize messaging, generate content, or analyze performance? PEOPLE - Can you share an example of how you use AI in your daily work? - Have you built a process or program using AI? (Why AI? Tooling? Outcomes?)
